Speakeasy: An illicit bar selling bootleg liquor during the 1920's/early 1930's period of prohibition in the United States. The term comes from a patron's manner of ordering alcohol without raising suspicion. Bartenders would tell patrons to be quiet and "speak easy".

Today, Speakeasy is a downtown, underground lounge, located in the historic Thaxton building. Restored to its 1920's art deco splendor, Speakeasy at the Thaxton will seduce you with opulence and please you with its swanky vibe.

Join us every Friday and Saturday night for our DJs' funky offerings. No doubt you will want to shake and shimmy all night long!

Can't wait until the weekend? Don't sweat it Daddy. This juice joint is available during the week for private. Need some special attention? Reserve our mezzanine for the fat cat treatment.

The Thaxton was constructed in 1928 by the architect firm of Klipstein & Rathman. The firm's most most notable contribution to the city's skyline, the Civil Courts Building.
